LOLCommenter on an MSN article about the perks of renting.
If apartment vacancies are increasing, and houses are going into foreclosure, doesn’t that tell you something? There’s increased supply and lower demand for housing. And doesn’t that tell you something? The population of America is not growing as it once was. And why is that?
Since 1973, we have allowed the killing of the unborn, at a clip of more than one million per year — that would be more than 50 million lives lost by surgical abortions, and only God knows how many by the pill. Next question: ask the apartment association people, and the home builder association people, how they’d like to have 50 million more renters or buyers right now. Ask the UAW, and all the car-makers, how they’d like to have 50 million more car buyers right now. Ask the our state legislators how’d they’d like to have 50 million more tax payers right now.
How long can this continue? It will likely continue until it becomes obvious to the “lump” of Americans, who normally do not concern themselves with the issue of abortion, that it doesn’t make economic sense to let it continue. Let the landlords, and home builders, and mortgage people, and appraisers, and title company professionals, and insurance people unite and proclaim that we cannot afford to keep killing the next generations. That would be a good start.
OK I try pretty hard not to get involved with fuckery like this comment but really this is just BEYOND. Just. I. Can’t. Even.
Oh good. Minou did so I wouldn’t have to. (Write your paper!)
